News/Blog

Howdy!!!! So the new blog posts will happen at www.RyanDavidOrr.blogspot.com Check it out y'all!

7/4/09 Happy 4th. Busy busy busy summer. Not a lot of dates for performances, but that will change fairly soon. Hope to have some new tracks for everyone to check out by September or October or so. Much love to ya.

5/6/09 Okay, so I'm a super-duper slacker. We kicked off the album recording with Thom Maxfield on drums. Got some great stuff captured and just began overdubbing acoustic guitars this past weekend. So far so good. Still no release date, but I'll keep y'all posted. Playing up at the Pinetop Contemporary Fine Art Gallery this Friday. Should be cool and a half. Much love.

1/25/09 So I haven't updated this in awhile. I'm a slacker, I know. But hey, new album recording will begin in March and I'm really, really, really, psyched about this one. I will be joined in this endeavor by drummer Tom Maxfield, bassist Whit Bennett, a wonderful engineering/production team, and an array of other musicians. It will be a lot of fun. And as a preliminary event, Tom Maxfield (who will from here be referred to as "Max") and I will be hitting some show dates on the west coast in March, so stay tuned. Much love y'all. Happy new year.

6/17 So far the tour is going great. Washington is almost done. Tonight I play at the Greenfrog Acoustic Tavern up in Bellingham and then tomorrow, off to Oregon. Portland, Astoria, Eugene, Corvallis, and Ashland are on the lineup for the next week.

5/29 The album is being printed and will be ready next week. Tour dates have been posted for the Summer, so check out a show near you. Also, there will be some new RDO t-shirts available as of about June 11.

5/4 June 6th it is. The Works in Pacific Grove. $5 cover. All ages. And May 25th I'll be opening for Vinnie James in Seaside. That will be fun. He's a wonderful, Grammy-nominated singer songwriter. Contact Joe and Auburn for tickets (jandagardenvenue at gmail.com).

4/26 So we're looking at a tentative June 6th release date for the new album. It will be available online at CD Baby dot com, digitally on iTunes and others, on the website, or, my personal favorite, at shows. Playing a songwriter's showcase tonight in Santa Clara. It's a full bill of award winning songwriters. It should be fun. I think I got poison oak from my dog, Shane. I know it's not a very interesting thing to share, but it's driving me nuts and it's all I can think about right now. That and not scratching. Go see Juno if you haven't yet. It's quirkiness and dorkiness are beautiful and unsurpassed. Peace

4/23 The new album is coming along well. Tracking is about done and most of the mixing as well. I'm looking at the beginning of June for a release date. We'll post a list of venues that will be on the tour when it gets a little closer. I'm totally digging an album by The Shins right now called Wincing the Night Away. Great stuff. LA was cool this past week. Too much traffic, though. More later.
